Ancient athletes: Theagenes of Thasos

Among the most celebrated athletes who excelled in the Olympic games, young Theagenes of Thasos ranged as one of the best. The Aegean island of Thasos was the most Northern of the Greek islands. It was close to the Macedonian and Thracian coast. It was especially renowned for its gold mines, wine, nuts and marble, but since Theagenes appeared on the racing track of Olympia, he became the greatest showpiece of Thasian origin. This was obvious to anybody who had seen his impressive body and witnessed his achievements. No one exposed to the sheer size and exceptional muscularity of his stature could believe Theagenes was only sixteen years old, and thus a comparatively inexperienced youngster.  Still, his great muscle power and athletic skills excelled in many ways.

For his public appearance at the games, a special room was prepared for Theagenes to exercise before and relax after the competition. Moreover, he was presented four fresh slaves as a special gift by the Elean state, to welcome him as the youngest contender in the Olympic games. During the opening ceremonies, the young athlete greeted the gathered spectators opposite the great temple of Zeus carrying two of his new slaves as a weight to flex his biceps. The other two were ready to follow the example of their peers and get into position to serve as human weights. The Elean officials had selected the best quality of slave stock and had these meticulously washed, shaven and oiled to show off the state's generosity. The spectators reacted excitedly in view of Theagenes' ripped and massive body, his skin exposing a marvelous pattern of veins, sensually accentuating his incredibly dry, muscular limbs.

At home, Theagenes could use and dispose of as many slaves he would need daily. The most characteristic purpose was that of dead weights, piling them up in pairs or bundles according to the necessary amount, which meant a popular spectacle for his many fans. Being a youngster, Theagenes sometimes could make practical jokes by hurling a bunch of slaves around as a ball or use them as punch bags during boxing practices. Of course his slaves had to attend him in anyway he could see fit, by feeding, bathing, shaving, oiling, and massaging him frequently.

Theagenes' young age also determined an almost permanent and insatiable sexual drive, which simply needed to be satisfied to get him focused during practices and athletic performances. This of course was part of the private world of the prize-winning athlete. Still, it was obvious from the impressive sight of his prominent manhood that Theagenes was a robust penetrator, only fixed on getting his relief. In order not to impregnate the Thasian women, the government provided him with a regular suppliance of young men to serve as disposable cum dumps. Being originally a farmer's son, he euphemistically referred to this daily practice as "fertilizing his livestock".
