Marcus and boi (II)

At the slave farm, the vendor recommended Marcus to follow the ritualistic procedure of keeping his new slave for at least 72 hours in a close-fitting cage -complimentarily provided by the farm- without any food or water, and then giving the slave its first meal. This, together with the ensuing first whipping session, would seal the slavery bond to the owner.

Marcus appreciated the suggestion. Having been told that, as the slave’s owner, he could call it as he pleased, he chose the (admittedly not very original) name of boi. On the other hand, he instructed the slave to address him as Master Marcus Sir -the three words always in a row.
